Despite the injuries and absences, Seattle still has talent. And after a couple difficult games on the road, the Seahawks get some home cooking this week in one of the most difficult venues in professional sports. The Cowboys did impress this week, but the confluence of those two events -- plus just watching Seattle play as of late -- lead me to believe there is some good value with the Hawks. You can also take them on the moneyline. Nothing wrong with that.
The right line movement has occurred in this matchup. Bettors have witnessed the Seahawks lose in consecutive weeks on the road, and are now on a short week against the Dallas Cowboys. Their young defense has taking some flak in terms of yards given up and points, but they’ve created multiple turnovers against the Broncos and Bears. Look for Dallas’ vanilla offensive approach to create an opportunity for the Seahawks to steal a win.
Now is the time to buy on the Seahawks after two weeks of looking like a bad football team. Both games came on the road, and they should have more success at home. The banged-up Seattle defense should be better against a team without much to fear in the passing game. The Seahawks won in Dallas last year against a stronger Cowboys offense (including Zeke Elliott), and I expect a similar result here.
The Seahawks are mired in a rebuilding season in which they might struggle to win six games -- but Sunday's contest against the Cowboys is one of them. Linebacker Bobby Wagner should be back from injury for this home opener against a Dallas club that has mustered just 28 points combined in the first two games. The Seahawks knocked Dallas out of playoff contention last year by getting a road win behind a great defensive game plan. Seattle has a brutal home schedule, with visits from the Rams, Chargers and Vikings on deck. Look for them to make the most of a winnable game Sunday and fade a public that is bound to favor Dallas.
The Seahawks will play their first game of the season in front of the home crowd this weekend, and while it's certainly possible being in friendly confines will help them, I'm not sure how much of an impact it will have. It's great to have a loud and raucous crowd at home when you're good, but this Seahawks team just isn't good. It can't block, it can't run, it can't pass, and the Legion of Boom is no more. The Cowboys will use Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott in the run game to control the tempo and a shell-shocked Russell Wilson will be running for his life yet again.
The Cowboys have stayed Under the total in both games this season. This is due to their decent defense playing sluggish opponents, while also being conservative with their own offense. Dating back to last season, the Under is on a 10-1 run in the Cowboys last 11 games. Back the Under again Sunday against the Seahawks.
