Early this week I posted a video stating Tampa Bay would win this one. But after monitoring injury reports and digging deeper, I like the Giants plus the points. The Bucs will be missing three key defensive starters, plus last week they were torched by Case Keenum. On deep throws, Keenum went 7 for 10 for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Eli Manning found his groove late in last week's loss at Philly. Grab the points.
With the Bucs defense still banged up after getting routed by the Vikings while shorthanded last week, I like this number to go Over the total. The Giants are ready to break out offensively with Odell Beckham getting healthier by the week. The Buccaneers are going to fare better on offense at home, and if the Giants passing game is playing well, the pressure will be on to pick up big chunks to keep up on the scoreboard.
The Buccaneers were really beat up on defense last week and predictably got rolled by the Vikings in Minnesota. This is a better matchup for them at home, and they should be healthier on defense, but there are still enough key players limited or not practicing that they’ll have an issue slowing down a Giants passing game that began to find its groove last week. The Giants’ offensive line is obviously is the team’s Achilles heel, but the Bucs aren’t the team to take advantage of it, managing a league-worst 1.3 percent adjusted sack rate this season. The recipe is here for the Giants to get their first win of the season.
New York rang up 24 points in the final period against the Eagles while winding up with 415 yards for the day. Eli Manning threw for three touchdowns -- two to Odell Beckham, whose off-color end zone celebration overshadowed the fact that he broke a scoring mini-drought dating to Game 15 of last year. Yes, the Giants remain winless straight-up. They must fly south this weekend for a second road game in a row. But the offense’s awakening and worrisome injury developments on Tampa Bay’s defense add up to an appealing moneyline play on the Giants. You can find the G-Men at +150 in some markets. Bucs LB Lavonte David (ankle) is out. Standout DT Gerald McCoy (ankle) and DE Noah Spence (shoulder) were knocked out of last Sunday’s game and are uncertain for the Giants. Three others on the unit missed the game at Minnesota. As Tampa Bay tries to round up 11 guys for a defensive huddle, the Giants can carry over the offensive momentum.
