This spread has hit a key number. I'll fade the public with the 8-4 Giants in a great spot -- at home in prime time in bad weather off an embarrassing loss. New York has covered four straight in the series. While Dallas is clearly the better team, the Cowboys are starting to draw super-inflated spreads. Grab the points.
I'll lean to the side of the Giants, who have not been a strong team all season ATS at home. They're coming off a poor performance which could have been much worse than the score indicated against Pittsburgh. Dallas, on the other hand, has played consecutive Thursday games and remains unbeaten since Week 1. Rust showed in both of its Thursday wins, and I believe it carries over to Sunday night. Dallas may escape with another win but the Giants get the cover.
The only team to beat the Cowboys this year is the Giants. Now, that was in Week 1 and a lot has changed. Losing Jason Pierre-Paul is a big blow to the Giants' D-line. Big Blue still matches up well against Dallas, but they aren’t facing two rookies getting their first NFL starts this time around in QB Dak Prescott and RB Ezekiel Elliott.
The Cowboys have won 11 straight since losing Week 1 at home, 20-19, to the Giants. Dallas is certainly better now than then, but we've seen the point spread hit the ceiling as their rating has climbed to heights that may be too high. They haven't covered their last two games. Meanwhile, the Giants looked sloppy offensively again at Pittsburgh in a loss that ended a six-game win streak. Dallas will play a conservative game on the ground and the Giants will follow suit. The best bet is the Under. as nine of the Giants' 12 games have gone this year, including their last four. Nine of the Cowboys' last 11 road games also have stayed Under.
QB Dak Prescott and RB Ezekiel Elliott were wide-eyed rookies on opening day when Dallas lost by a whisker to the Giants. The Cowboys have been perfect since straight-up and, though a playoff berth has been booked, will tap into revenge as a motivator. The aimless Giants’ offense ranks second-to-last in time of possession while the clock-eating Cowboys are No. 2. They will play keep-away with the ball behind those two grown-up rookies.
