The Rams have the worst offense in the league, but their No. 9-ranked defense, which is allowing just 21.5 points per game, should allow them to cover this spread Sunday at New England. The Patriots will suffer on offense without tight end Rob Gronkowski, and the windy and chilly conditions might slow them down a bit as well. Los Angeles should be able to disrupt Tom Brady, and in the Rams of course you’ll be supporting an underdog few people want but the sportsbooks will need.
The loss of Rob Gronkowski puts a damper on the Patriots offense, and I don?t think we can trust them to run up the score on teams with good defenses. Speaking of, the Rams ranked ninth in defensive DVOA before getting blasted by a Saints offense with something to prove against its ex-offensive coordinator. The Patriots? lack of a pass rush should benefit rookie Jared Goff, and though I can?t see the Rams going into Foxborough and pulling off an upset, this should be a low-scoring game that the Pats win by 10 at the most.
