The Texans showed some grit in last week’s overtime victory against the Colts. The Broncos are reeling offensively but are still among the best defensively. Weve seen some cracks, however, in Denver's ability to stop the run. Houston will lean on Lamar Miller and make this game a lot closer than most expect. Grab the points.
For nearly seven straight quarters against Minnesota and Indy, the Texans' offense looked atrocious. But Houston gained confidence with its thrilling comeback win over the Colts and that should carry over to Denver. The Broncos are showing some leaks on both sides of the ball. Atlanta and San Diego burned Denver with a short passing attack. Brock Osweiler isn't Matt Ryan or Philip Rivers, but he's adequate and can run a simplistic short-passing offense. Grab the points.
Brock Osweiler didn't look great against the Colts, even though he was big when it counted at the end. And I realize the Broncos have an outstanding defense and they might like to say hello face to face with him. Denver's pass rush is insane. That's all good and well, but I don't know how Denver is going to score more than 16 points. They can't run. I don't understand the spread, because the rating being used is almost with the assumption that the last two games don't matter. Take the points, and this is also a good spot for the money-line.
The Texans are 4-2 but rank 30th in DVOA and looked absolutely terrible last Sunday before Indy melted down. They're banged up in the secondary, which should help Trevor Siemian get back on track after struggling against the Chargers. You know the Denver defense is absolutely overjoyed they get to face one-man trainwreck Brock Osweiler. Denver is a little vulnerable against the run, but they should be able to zero in on Lamar Miller and force Osweiler to make good decisions to move the offense. I can't see that happening. Broncos cover this one, no matter the line.
