I hate that the public is on the Over but I think it's the right play. Injuries in the secondary will hurt both teams with the Bears' Deon Bush and Kyle Fuller inactive and the Eagles' Leodis McKelvin inactive too. Jay Cutler will connect with Alshon Jeffery often and Jeremy Langford will get his carries. The question is what will the Eagles do offensively? We know Carson Wentz will target Jordan Matthews and Nelson Agholor often against a depleted secondary, but can the Eagles get something going on the ground to open up that passing game? I think they can with the combination of Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles and Kenjon Barner. My simulations have the Bears winning 24-22, providing decent value on the Over.
The Eagles have a better than even shot of winning outright, so of course I'm playing this moneyline. I had Week 1 moneyline winners on Denver (+160) and New England (+210); let's try to add a nice +150 payout here. Remember, these Bears went 1-7 at home last season.
I was impressed with Carson Wentz and believe he'll show composure in his first road start. Plus, I have the Eagles rated as the better team and I project them to win outright at Soldier Field. Play Philly with the points and on the moneyline too.
Good on ya, Carson Wentz, for a four-star debut as Philly’s rookie QB. Now let’s see how you handle your first road game amid the glitz of Monday night. Of equal significance is the absence of TE Zach Ertz (rib), the recipient of six Wentz passes last Sunday. The Bears are far from scary, but QB Jay Cutler will be throwing at a secondary with only three fully fit cornerbacks. If the Eagles get to 2-0 in the Windy City, great on ya, Wentz.
You have to give a ton of credit to Carson Wentz for his preparation and to coach Doug Pederson for last week's win over the Browns. In this matchup, however, Bears DC Vic Fangio will bring a lot of pressure to test the rookie. If Chicago can avoid self-inflicted wounds on offense, I see the Bears taking care of business at home.
