Get the warmup acts off the stage. The headliners are ready to take over.

You know how it is when you go see a comic and that warmup comedian, usually just a host at the club looking for a break, tries to get a laugh or two but fizzles out like a firecracker with a wet wick.

Peyton Manning doesn't need prayers; he just has to play like the great QB he is. (AP)
Peyton Manning doesn't need your prayers -- he just has to play like the great QB he is. (AP)
We want the best. If it's a comedian, we want the make-us-laugh-out-loud act. If it's a concert, we don't want the warmup group hoping to strike it big but the main band with all the tunes we know. If it's acting, we want DeNiro and Streep, not Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson.

In this NFL season, we want the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots.

Now, thanks to the luck of the schedule, we get them together on the same field for the game we can't wait to see.

For eight weeks of this season we have fought the notion that this is a two-team league. History has taught us that. Don't rush to judgment. There's a lot of football left, the clichés tell us. Champions aren't made in September and October.

Bull feathers to that.

It's the Colts and the Patriots. The other 30 teams are like the "B" girls at Hooters or the daytime crew at the strip joint (don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about); cute in their own way, just not ready to handle the big time.

We at CBS Sports.com have decided that the Colts-Patriots game is so important that we're treating it like a Super Bowl.

It will be all Colts-Patriots all week long.

Is that fair to the other 30 teams? No. But here are two things we have to say about that:

The game is on our network. So let the hype begin. Can you say record ratings?
The Colts and Patriots have earned the right to be treated this way.

Complete Grades

They're both unbeaten, they're both playing at a high level and they're the two best offenses in the NFL, featuring the two best quarterbacks in the game, both on their way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Tom Brady has 30 touchdown passes in eight games. Amazing. Peyton Manning holds the record, but he's resigned to the fact that it's coming down. You know he'd like to light it up next week to show those who have forgotten him with Brady so spectacular that he can still get it done at a very high level.

Both teams warmed up in grand fashion Sunday. The Patriots lit up the Washington Redskins to the tune of 52-7. The Colts, playing in what was a sandwich game coming after a Monday night victory at Jacksonville and before the Patriots, put up an impressive 31-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

For their efforts, both teams earned A+ grades here. Don't they deserve it? Not just for their efforts Sunday, but for their efforts the entire season.

What a special day it will be next week at the RCA Dome. Two great quarterbacks and two great coaches and two teams that can each score 40 on anybody. The Indianapolis 500 will be inside this year, next week at the Dome.

Gentlemen, start your passing arms.

So move to the side all those daytime strippers and "B" girls and "B" actors and warmup comedians that the rest of the NFL has become.

It's time for the real Super Bowl, time for the best to show off in Indianapolis. By the way, you can see it only on CBS.

NY Giants Giants 13,Miami Dolphins 10
C+
Giants: This was an ugly one, but they'll take it. The defense did a nice job, except for the last drive by the Dolphins. The offense didn't do much.
D
Dolphins: They slogged around and did little on offense until it was too late. At least the defense made the trip to London.
Pittsburgh Steelers 24,Cincinnati Bengals 13
B+
Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger was solid, Willie Parker had a good day running it and the defense had a big forced fumble late in the game. They put a kill shot on the Bengals' chances of getting into the division race.
D
Bengals: When Carson Palmer throws for only 205 yards, something is wrong. They just couldn't get anything going. The defense continues to play poorly.
Detroit Lions 16,Chicago Bears 7
A
Lions: They got a nice day from Jon Kitna throwing the ball and Kevin Jones ran for over 100. The defense had some big takeaways and limited Brian Griese throwing the football. This is a huge victory.
C-
Bears: So much for building on the momentum of beating the Eagles last week. They couldn't get anything consistently going on offense. The defense sure isn't what it used to be.
Indianapolis Colts 31,Carolina Panthers 7
A+
Colts: They started slow, which you would expect coming off a tough Monday night game. But they showed just how good they are, turning it on when needed. Here come the Patriots.
D
Panthers: They started fast, but faded quickly. They don't have the defense to continually slow that offense. The Colts are just too good.
Cleveland Browns 27,St. Louis Rams 20
B
Browns: Derek Anderson continues to play at a high level, throwing three touchdown passes. The defense gave up a lot of yards, but got a big fourth-down stop and a huge interception in the end. Surprise, surprise, they're over .500.
C-
Rams: On a day they found some offense, the defense let them down. They struggled against the pass. It's just not good right now.
Tennessee Titans 13,Oakland Raiders 9
B-
Titans: This belonged to the defense. They had five sacks and a turnover led to a key field goal. The offense ran it well, but did little else. Vince Young wasn't very good.
C-
Raiders: They let a pretty good defensive day go to waste. They couldn't get much going offensively. Penalties killed them.
Philadelphia Eagles 23,Minnesota Vikings 16
B+
Eagles: His team needed it and Donovan McNabb had a big day throwing the football. He lit up the Minnesota secondary. The defense did a nice job limiting Adrian Peterson.
D
Vikings: They couldn't stop the Eagles passing game and they couldn't keep up on offense. They are really limited by their passing game.
Jacksonville Jaguars 24,Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23
B-
Jaguars: Aaron Glenn's pick for a touchdown was the big play. Quinn Gray didn't turn it over in his first start, which was huge. The defense gave up some yards through the air, but had three big interceptions.
C-
Buccaneers: Jeff Garcia's streak without throwing a pick came to a crashing end. He threw three. The defense was pushed around some on the ground early, but stiffened in the second half.
Buffalo Bills 13,NY Jets Jets 3
B+
Bills: It was a big day for the defense. They shut down the Jets in all areas. The offense had the one big play from J.P. Losman to Lee Evans, and that was all they needed.
D
Jets: Can it get any worse? They can't win with Chad Pennington playing quarterback. The change will come. A solid defensive effort went to waste.
San Diego Chargers 35,Houston Texans 10
A
Chargers: When a defensive player has two touchdowns, like Antonio Cromartie, you know you had a good day. Philip Rivers had a nice day, throwing three touchdown passes. The distractions of last week didn't bother them.
F
Texans: They were overmatched against that San Diego defense. You can't give up two defensive scores and expect to win.
New Orleans Saints 31,San Francisco 49ers 10
A
Saints: The Saints seem to have the offense rolling now, getting four touchdown passes from Drew Brees. The defense was dominating, limiting the 49ers to 260 yards of offense.
F
49ers: Boy, was that ugly. They couldn't do anything on offense and had little resistance for Brees. This team is going in the wrong direction.
New England Patriots 52,Washington Redskins 7
A+
Patriots: Tom Brady had another big day throwing the football. Shock there. And the defense got a touchdown, too. Now comes the Midseason Super Bowl. Are you ready?
F
Redskins: They don't have the offense to keep up with the Patriots and the defense let them down. It was ugly all the way around.
Monday, Oct. 29, 2007
Green Bay Packers 19,Denver Broncos 13
B+
Packers: Brett Favre did it again. He found the right guy for two big plays, and that was the difference. The last one in overtime won it. The defense did a nice job, too.
C
Broncos: They aren't getting enough from their offense. They aren't scoring points, even though they moved it. The two big plays in man coverage really hurt, the last one in overtime wasting a big drive to tie it late.

Who will end his carrer with more Superbowl wins and what QB would you take now? Is anyone hoping on a Giants vs. Chargers Superbowl? I think that would surely answer some questions....

(POLL)

I know that the games still have to be played but suppose the Packers and Patriots make the Super Bowl..  What would you rather see?

1.   Brett Favre beating the undefeated Patriots in his last game as arguably the best QB ever?

or

2.  The New England Patriots of 2007 shutting up the 1972 Miami Dolphins by posting an undefeated season?
