KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Nikki Caldwell is leaving as an assistant women's coach at national champion Tennessee to become head coach at UCLA.
She's been an assistant at Tennessee, her alma mater, for the past six seasons.
Prior to her return to Tennessee, Caldwell was an assistant at the University of Virginia for three seasons.
She was a guard during her playing days at Tennessee from 1991-94, known for playing tough defense and 3-point shooting.
Tennessee coach Pat Summitt said Caldwell "is the total package as a teacher, a coach and a recruiter."
