Webster suffers a stress fracture: The Trail Blazers announced that guard Martell Webster suffered a left foot injury Tuesday during a game against Sacramento. An MRI confirmed that Webster has a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal. The team said it would announce a course of treatment, which could include surgery, and a an official timetable. A stress fracture indicates he will likely miss at least two months.

Fantasy Analysis

This creates a void in the starting lineup at small forward. The logical move would be to put Travis Outlaw into the starting lineup, with Outlaw being a more productive small forward anyway. Rudy Fernandez is also an option to move into the starting lineup at shooting guard with Brandon Roy able to play the three. Fernandez fits into a Manu Ginobili type role off the bench, though, and that's the more likely scenario. As for Webster, his numbers weren't very good even as a starter and his absence could actually do more good than harm.

The Blazers said that Webster had surgery Thursday to repair a stress fracture in his left foot. Webster was injured in the exhibition opener, a 110-81 victory over the Sacramento Kings. (Updated 10/09/2008)
