Right-hander Kevin Millwood appears headed for his fourth muscle-strain-induced stint on the disabled list in the last two seasons.
After Millwood complained of more soreness in his groin during a brief throwing session Friday, both the club and Millwood suggested a move to the DL might be in everyone's best interests.
Millwood left his last start Wednesday at Chicago in the second inning with soreness in his groin. It's the third time this year he's left a start with a groin problem. He's already made one trip to the DL with the injury. Last year, he made two trips to the DL with a hamstring problem. The Rangers, however, don't have to make a move until Sunday when scheduled starter Eric Hurley must be activated.
"It didn't look good out there," manager Ron Washington said of Millwood's throwing session. "I don't think (skipping one start) is going to be the case, not if we want to get him fully healthy. I don't think he wants to keep going out there with pain every time."
If the Rangers end up putting Millwood on the DL, Washington said right-hander Scott Feldman would replace him in the rotation. The Rangers have wanted to move Feldman to the bullpen for two weeks to keep his innings count down, but injuries have prevented them from making the move. Pitching coach Mark Connor said that if Feldman's turn is skipped whenever the Rangers have an off day, his innings could be satisfactorily managed.
RANGERS 14, A'S 6: After falling down by five, the Rangers scored 14 unanswered runs Friday to move ahead of Oakland and into second place in the AL West. Texas, which hasn't finished above third in the division since 1999, trails Los Angeles by 10 1/2 games. Oakland put up five runs in the bottom of the third, but the Rangers rallied to tie it in the top of the fourth, thanks to two-run homers by LF David Murphy and CF Josh Hamilton. The Rangers scored the go-ahead run in the seventh on a single by 2B Ian Kinsler, then scored eight more runs in the ninth.

We had a nice 1st half but now I officially think we are done. We go into the break with momentum and then fall flat on our faces coming out of it getting blown out 20-2 in 2 games against a mediocre Twins team to fall almost 10 games behind the Angels. Well don'e
Someone please explain to me why Byrd was batting fifth today. I understand keeping Davis lower in the order for now, but there is no way a 0.246 hitter with little power should be in the heart of the order.
