This was the type of performance the Yankees needed to start the second half.

Another strong start from Mike Mussina to prove the first half wasn't a fluke.

An MVP-like game from Alex Rodriguez and a solid effort from Robinson Cano at the plate.

Even newcomer Richie Sexson chipped in with a hit and an RBI.

It will be a long road to a playoff spot for the Yankees -- as long as it's been in a while. Friday night, they took as solid a first step as they could.

YANKEES 7, A'S 1: Alex Rodriguez went 3-for-4 and Robinson Cano went 2-for-4 and both players homered to lead the Yankees to a win in their first game after the break. Mike Mussina pitched six innings of one-run ball for his 12th win.

Ok, so today's 4-3 victory over Oakland was ridiculously ugly, but I am pleased regardless.  It was the first time this year, I think when the big guns laid an enormous egg but the fringe and role players came through.  Ramirez and Robertson combined for 3 solid OT innings, while the bottom of the order carried the team, and Molina took one for the squad but getting hit in the knee.& ...(more)

I'm tired of hearing a lot of talk about how the Yankees can still get the wild card spot.  The Yankees don't win their division last year and suddenly we're a perennial wild card team? BS!  Our starting pitching has been every bit as good as the Red Sux, although I might give a slight edge to Tampa in that same catagory. Th ...(more)
