An MRI taken Monday showed that second baseman Luis Castillo has a strained left quad muscle. He remains day-to-day.

Castillo was injured legging out a triple in the first inning of Sunday's game at Cincinnati and he didn't play in Monday's game against Washington.

Manager Willie Randolph said he has a policy that "if a player takes himself out of a game, he doesn't play the next day."

Damion Easley started at second base Monday and homered.

The Mets said there was no timetable for Castillo's return, but it appears he will not go on the disabled list.

NATIONALS 10, METS 4: Third baseman David Wright said the Mets have been inconsistent all year after the Mets won two or three over the weekend against Cincinnati. That proved true as they were pasted Monday by Washington.

Nelson Figueroa (2-3) allowed six runs in five innings on five hits and five walks.

What do you think is the worst moves of all time?

Personally, I think it's Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi.  Ryan has thrown 7 no hitters in his career, first of which was 35 years ago Thursday.  Meanwhile, we have never had a pitcher throw one.  Dare I say, the Ryan Curse?

I hate to say it, but I think the wheels might be coming off Nelson Figueroa’s pumpkin carriage.

A move to the long relief role might be more appropriate for Nelson at this point in the season. Sosa has proven to be useless, time and time again, and the ...(more)

I want to get a few people's opinion on Delgado and whether or not you think he used steroids.  He's been considered a power hitter since his first full season in 1996 with Toronto when he had 488 AB's and belted 25 homers.  After that year he had 30+ homerun seasons for 10 straight  years until last year when he hit 24.  MLB started looking into steriods signifi ...(more)

We have 11 games where we have given up 2 Runs or less and then over half our games we have given up 3 runs or less.  If anything our fielding is struggling, not the pitching.  there are only two teams that have given up more unearned runs than the Mets.  The Ranger ...(more)

Considering our bats have been less than our desired affects, one thing I have noticed is that we have been scoring runs against the better pitchers in the game right now.  We have just faced Arizona's best three and raised all of their ERAs.  We also have faced other teams best pitchers and have done well enough.  Our BA is low but we have been scoring runs.  There have ...(more)

Before the season started I think everyone would have pencield in Detriot as having the best offseason with their aquisions. With the Mets a close second or third picking up the best pitcher in baseball.

But is it even a debate at this point since the Mets have added an ace to thier pitching staff who agian is considered i ...(more)
