--RHP Derrick Turnbow cleared waivers and was assigned outright to Class AAA Nashville. Turnbow was designated for assignment after posting a 15.63 ERA in eight relief outings. There was minimal trade interest because of his $3.2 million salary, so the Brewers kept Turnbow and sent him to the minors.
--RHP Yovani Gallardo said he expects to have surgery some time next week. Gallardo tore the ACL in his right knee in a collision near first base on May 1 in Chicago and probably will miss the rest of the season.
--RHP David Riske has retired the first batter he faced 12 times in 16 relief outings. The first batter he faced Friday, St. Louis' Ryan Ludwick, reached on an error by shortstop J.J. Hardy n the sixth inning.
--RHP Ben Sheets, who starts for the Brewers on Saturday against the Cardinals, is two strikeouts away from passing LHP Teddy Higuera (1,081) on the club's all-time strikeout list.
--The Brewers' bullpen has thrown 12 consecutive scoreless innings and has a 1.67 ERA (5 runs in 27 innings) over the last eight games.

If CC signs elsewhere and Prince got traded to say NY for Hughes, or SF for Cain, why not sign Texeira. Take CC money for an everyday player who fits the bill. Big investment for big protection in the middle of the order. If its a question of win now, and we lose CC, I think thats a huge statement. The problem is who gets more, Texiera or Sabathia?
