--SS Mike Aviles doubled in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to a career-high 12 games.
--3B Alex Gordon, who is hitting .186 with 17 strikeouts in 59 at-bats in July, was held out of the lineup. He was just 1-for-9 against Tigers LHP Kenny Rogers. Esteban German replaced Gordon at third and went 2-for-3 with a triple.
--2B Mark Grudzielanek went 3-for-3 off Tigers LHP Kenny Rogers. Grudzielanek is 15-for-23 lifetime against Rogers.
--RHP Joel Peralta, who was optioned Monday to Class AAA Omaha when RHP Leo Nunez came off the disabled list, was recalled when LHP Jimmy Gobble went on the disabled list. Peralta was needed, throwing three innings and permitting three runs, four hits and two walks.
--Royals starting pitchers have thrown 21 1/3 innings in the five games after the All-Star break. RHP Gil Meche went 6 1/3 innings Saturday at Chicago and is the only Kansas City pitcher to go more than five innings.
--The Tuesday crowd of 22,074 pushed the season attendance to 945,865. The Royals are the lone American League club not to have reached 1 million in attendance.

The Sportsline MLB rumor page says the Royals might make a run at Kyle Farnsworth to fill one of the holes in thebullpen created by recent trades.
Kyle has a quality arm and has local ties but he made nearly 6 million last season. I would hope, if we do sign him, that it would be for much less considering
