Second baseman Dan Uggla doesn't want to try to analyze his hot start since being dropped from his usual No. 2 spot in the batting order.

Uggla is batting .437 (14-for-32) with eight homers and 16 RBIs in his first 10 games since being dropped to fifth or sixth in the batting order from his usual two spot.

He hit his 12th home run Monday, his fourth in three games -- including two homers Sunday after hitting his first career grand slam on Saturday.

"I don't attribute it to anything. It seems like everybody has kind of forgotten about the last two years," said Uggla, who hit 27 homers in 2006 and 31 last year primarily batting second. "I don't think where you hit in lineup is going to make you hit more homers or more doubles. I'm not trying to over-analyze anything. I'm just going to roll with it."

REDS 8, MARLINS 7: Florida got off to a 3-0 lead on three home runs but couldn't hold back the Reds. Left-hander Taylor Tankersley gave up two two-run homers in the seventh to doom Florida. The Reds also scored on an error by third baseman Jorge Cantu and a wild pitch from righty Burke Badenhop. The result: Florida's first loss since May 3, snapping a seven-game winning streak.

Small payroll? Minor problem for Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez.

Working with limited financial resources comes with the territory for whomever is managing the Marlins. Without the luxury of paying for high-priced talent, Gonzalez found a way to keep his youthful, $22 million squad competitive in 2008.

For doing a splendid job ...(more)

Let's get some original thought in here since we all have brains to think for ourselves.

I am curious though: Why doesn't anyone ever mention anything from Marlinsbaseball.com? I check that site out all the time and there is some good stuff there.

Any way, what about anyone's original thoughts about the Marlins offse ...(more)
