Mike Jacobs has heard the trade rumors involving his name, and with the market starting to become more active, the Marlins first baseman is prepared for anything.
"We have to realize it's a business," Jacobs said. "Yeah, there's a lot of emotion in this game, (but) in the end, it's a lot of business. You can't control those kinds of things."
The non-waiver trade deadline is July 31, and Jacobs' name has been heard as possible bait for a relief pitcher, one of two areas the Marlins could be looking to upgrade, the other being catcher.
"Some people might think it's a distraction or you get kind of caught up in it." Jacobs said. "It's obviously something they don't keep you up to date on and say hey, 'We're throwing your stuff out there."
BRAVES 9, MARLINS 4: RHP Ricky Nolasco allowed five runs in five innings for his third straight start without a win. Florida got three hits over the first eight innings before Luis Gonzalez's three-run homer capped a four-run ninth inning.
