Until right-hander Josh Fogg proved he could breathe through 30 stitches without gasping, manager Dusty Baker held up assigning Fogg's Sunday start.

Fogg threw before Friday's game and proved it, so he'll face the Colorado Rockies Sunday.

That's what Baker wanted because it gives right-hander Johnny Cueto an extra day of rest after he threw 120 pitches in his previous start.

"I'll just pitch with a bad mustache until the stitches come out," said Fogg, who was hit by a line drive during batting practice this week, forcing him to miss Friday's start. "My face feels a little swollen but nothing else hurts."

Shortstop/outfielder Jerry Hairston Jr. ran the infield from first to third on the outfield grass at 85 percent Friday to test his right hamstring and is ready to do what the team wants him to do -- a rehab assignment for two days Saturday and Sunday at Class A Dayton and a return to the Reds by Monday in Houston.

"Everything went really good and I'll listen to what they want to do. I'll talk with the trainers and see what our game plan is," said Hairston.

ROCKIES 7, REDS 2: RHP Edinson Volquez (12-4) gave up five earned runs -- marking his second straight start of four or more after giving up no more than three in his first 16 appearances for the Reds this season -- while also giving up two homers and needing 99 pitches to get through only four innings.

I just wanted to get a thread going about Dusty. Just about everyone (including myself) bashes the guy for being a terrible manager. He makes controversial and often flat out dumb decisions weekly if not more often. But the thing is, I am not mad at Dusty anymore. I finally figured it out. Why bash a guy who is doing his best? It's not his fault he isn't a good manager. It's th ...(more)

Okay, so the preview of this game is pretty much tickling the balls of the Rockies, who, in my opinion should not be in any conversations.  Lucky for them, their division is a bunch of a half-wit losers.  If it were up to me, you shouldn't be able to make it to the play-offs without a solid winning record but NL west could be ...(more)
