--OF Jay Gibbons might have his 15-day suspension cancelled. The Baltimore Sun is reporting that the commissioner's office and players union are working on changes to baseball's drug policies after the Mitchell Report. If changes are made, Gibbons might not be suspended for the start of the season. "I know absolutely nothing," Gibbons told the Sun about the situation.

--2B Brian Roberts again sat out Wednesday due to a stiff back that's been bothering him. Andy MacPhail, the team's president of baseball operations, told Roberts also that it's not likely he'll be traded by Opening Day, according to The Baltimore Sun.

--3B Melvin Mora had an RBI single in Wednesday's 8-2 loss. The starting third baseman has been one of the team's top hitters all spring and now has a .440 batting average.

--OF Jay Gibbons dropped a flyball Wednesday that led to the Cardinals scoring three runs in the seventh inning. The Orioles made several mistakes in the outfield in the game.

--RHP Jeremy Guthrie was up and down in his final start of spring training. He gave up four runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. Guthrie, the Orioles' Opening Day starter, finished with a 5.00 ERA in five Grapefruit League starts.

BY THE NUMBERS
.783 -- 3B Melvin Mora's slugging percentage this spring through 46 at-bats.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"It's one of those things that you play with all the time. It's not that big a deal. If it was the regular season, I'd be playing. But I'd rather be 100 percent for Opening Day than let it keep nagging."-- 2B Brian Roberts told The Baltimore Sun about his recent back problems.

I saw Luis Hernandez signed with the Royals and Cintron and Castro will probably end up elsewhere.  It sounds like everyone is down on Khalil Greene and his BA is good reason to bash him but he would be an upgrade to everyone we've had at SS since Bordick.  I ...(more)
