--RF Jeff Francoeur says there's no reason he can't hit 45 doubles and 30 home runs. Francoeur added 17 pounds of muscle in his chest and shoulders, hoping for more endurance through the season.
--RHP Tim Hudson is lined up to be the starter when the Braves open the season against the Nationals March 31 in Washington. He has a 1.47 ERA in five Grapefruit League appearances.
--3B Chipper Jones is fighting a hook when he bats left-handed, producing topspin on the ball when he wants backspin. It hasn't affected his spring average, though, as he is batting .350.
--RHP Tyler Yates was traded to the Pirates for minor league RHP Todd Redmond. Yates showed flashes of brilliance last season but has not been consistent this spring. With so many other pitchers in the wings -- and several of those without options -- Atlanta general manager Frank Wren wanted to move someone.
Redmond, 22, played in Class A and Class AA last year, going a combined 8-13 with a 4.39 ERA in 28 starts.
--INF Omar Infante will start the season on the disabled list as he recovers from a broken left hand. When he does come back, 1B Scott Thorman's days may be numbered, as Infante can back up there as well as at third.
BY THE NUMBERS 2 -- Years 3B Chipper Jones has left on his contract, including the option year that vested after his 2007 performance.
