"I don't know, but I hit that pretty good," Ibanez said when asked if he had ever hit a homer that far. "I know if it goes 326 feet it counts as one run." He finished 1-for-3 with a walk.

The Dallas Morning News reports that Richie Sexson, the 6-foot-7 helmet-throwing Mariner, was suspended for six games and fined for his role in Thursday's brawl against the Rangers. The suspension was supposed to start Friday against the White Sox, but he's appealing. Mariners SP Felix Hernandez was fined, as was Rangers catcher Gerald Laird and pitcher Sidney Ponson.

Part of that is the need for the Mariners to make up for the loss of regular No. 5 hitter Richie Sexson, but part also is that Lopez is having a better year offensively than most of his teammates. In his first six plate trips batting fifth, Lopez had a single, a double, a triple and a sacrifice fly.

Mariners 1B Richie Sexson's suspension for charging the mound Thursday was reduced from six games to five. The Mariners said Sexson would begin the suspension with Saturday night's game against the White Sox. He will miss the final two games of the series against the White Sox and all three games Monday through Wednesday at Texas. Sexson charged the mound and flung his helmet at Texas SP Kason Gabbard after the left-hander threw an eye-high pitch to him that was more over the plate than inside in the fourth inning of Thursday night's game. "It's acceptable for what happened," Sexson said. "With the helmet, I'm happy with five. It could've been worse."
