"He's really pushing himself really, really hard and taking it really, really hard," Yost said. "We'll probably just mix and match, I'm not going to do anything crazy." Yost said he hopes Gagne works his way back into the closer's role. Possible options to close games include Guillermo Mota, David Riske and Salomon Torres.

Rickie Weeks hit a two-run single that gave Milwaukee a 4-3 victory on Friday night and snapped the Brewers' six-game losing streak. Weeks, the leadoff hitter with a .196 average, knew he'd hit so many balls hard with nothing to show for it but still said he had confidence he could come through. Did he ever. The Cardinals shifted to the right, and Weeks rifled a ball to left field, slapping first base coach Ed Sedar's hand hard as he rounded the bag and flinging his helmet before Prince Fielder mobbed him. "The way I felt out there, I could've took Mike Tyson three rounds," Weeks said.

Brewers SP Dave Bush, replacing Yovani Gallardo (knee) in the rotation, made his first start since his recall from Triple-A Nashville on Monday against the Marlins. The result was a 6-2 loss as Bush was outpitched by rookie Burke Badenhop for his first MLB win. Bush pitched two scoreless innings before Florida jumped on him for three runs in the third. Bush lasted six innings, allowing five hits, six runs and two walks. He struck out three while allowing consecutive homers to Jorge Cantu and Dan Uggla in the sixth inning.

Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo will have surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn ligament in his right knee and will likely miss the rest of the season. Gallardo said there was no chance he could avoid having surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament and he will complete his rehabilitation in Milwaukee. He hopes to return in September or October, but players typically need four to six months to recover. "I wish I was talking about my performances," Gallardo said Sunday in the clubhouse with his knee still wrapped.
