Alfonseca among Phils to file as FA: The following Phillies filed for free agency: RP Antonio Alfonseca, C Rod Barajas, SP Freddy Garcia, SP Jon Lieber, SP Kyle Lohse, RP Jose Mesa, UTL Abraham Nunez, RP J.C. Romero and outfielder Aaron Rowand. (Updated 11/08/2007).

Fantasy Analysis
For most of the first half, Alfonseca was making the Phillies and Fantasy owners forget he is a 35-year-old has-been, posting a 3-1 record with a 3.93 ERA and six saves. The pixy dust wore off in the second half, though, as he posted a ghastly 8.80 ERA. For the season, he allowed a .314 batting-average against, which makes him nothing more than a low-end middle reliever for the deepest of Fantasy leagues that use true middle men. You can ignore him on Draft Day, especially since he won't be trusted for save chances ever again. (Updated 11/08/2007).
