The Blue Jays activated closer B.J. Ryan from the disabled list on Sunday. Ryan, who underwent Tommy John elbow ligament reconstruction surgery on May 10, 2007, finished his rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Syracuse, allowing a run, a hit, a walk and a wild pitch, and also committed a balk. He also struck out two. To make room for Ryan, the Jays optioned Brandon League to Syracuse. (Updated 04/13/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Ryan will finally get back to earning his fat contract after missing almost a year of action after surgery. He might not close immediately in Fantasy Week 3 (April 14-20) for the Jays, however, as he struggled in his last outing and is a little rusty. Jeremy Accardo has looked pretty brutal in losing both of his last two outings though, so Ryan might end up being thrown right into the fire. You have the final call of course, but if you have another full-time closer on your roster, you might want to leave him in there until Ryan proves he is back to being Toronto's No. 1.
