Fantasy Analysis
Maine opened the season April 4 by taking a loss against the Braves and allowing four earned runs in four innings. In six starts since, he has made it through five innings in each outing and has allowed two or fewer earned runs. Talk about settling into a groove. Maine has taken the next step in his career and has developed into a reliable Fantasy SP. His next scheduled start is for Tuesday against the Nationals. He could be moved up to Monday if the Mets choose to skip their fifth starter. Either way, Maine is expected to make two starts Fantasy Week 7 (May 12-18) with his second start coming against the Yankees. Maine won his lone start against Washington this season, and was 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in one start against the Yankees last season. (Updated 05/07/2008).
Maine posted another strong start for the visiting Mets in their 6-2 win over Arizona on Friday. (Updated 05/03/2008)
