Orioles SP Jeremy Guthrie allowed only one run -- a solo home run by Cristian Guzman -- but it was enough to send him to a 2-1 loss Sunday against the Nationals. Guthire, who was outdueled by John Lannan, was charged with five hits and three walks in seven innings. He did not record a strikeout. Fantasy Analysis
Guthrie pitched one of his better games in 2008 on Sunday and should have won for the third time in four starts, but the Baltimore offense betrayed him. Guthrie has allowed just three earned runs over his last 13 innings and is a decent pitcher. However, pitching for the O's makes him more of an AL-only and low-end mixed league flier since the wins might not always be there. His next scheduled start is for Friday at Tampa Bay. Guthire is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in two starts against Tampa this season. (Updated 05/18/2008).
Guthrie allowed three runs, eight hits and struck out a season-high seven in six innings in Baltimore's 5-4 win over Boston on Thursday. (Updated 05/14/2008)
Advice
Guthrie is 2-0 in his last three starts after going 15 starts without a win. He has a 3.86 ERA in his three May starts after going 0-3 with a 4.34 ERA in his first six starts of the year.
