Cards' Pineiro finally has nice outing: Cardinals SP Joel Pineiro (4-5) needed only 78 pitches to get through seven innings for his first victory in five starts and only his second in 15 appearances since April 29. Pineiro's strong effort bailed out a beleaguered bullpen that blew its major league-leading 27th save on Tuesday. He allowed four runs on eight hits to earn his fourth win. He didn't walk a batter and had two strikeouts. (Updated 08/07/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Even for the contending Cardinals, Pineiro doesn't have a very impressive track record. Hopefully, Wednesday's performance is a positive sign of things to come. Until he pitches with more consistency, however, Pineiro remains an NL-only option. His Fantasy value increases in Fantasy Week 20 (Aug. 11-17) as he pitches twice. He starts Monday at Florida and again to end the week at Cincinnati. (Updated 08/07/2008).
