Odalis Perez used his hitting to help him earn his first win of the season. Making his ninth start without a victory, Perez had three hits and two RBI and pitched into the seventh inning to lead the Washington Nationals past the New York Mets 10-4 on Monday night. Making his 200th career start, Perez (1-3) gave up a season-high 11 hits and four runs -- more than two runs for only the third time -- but Washington scored at least four runs in one of his starts for only the second time this year. Perez left with one out in the seventh after giving up David Wright's seventh homer and Carlos Beltran's single. He made a slow walk to the dugout, without a hint of a smile and rubbing his cold hands together. He struck out five and walked three. (Updated 05/13/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Perez led off the third with a single and scored on a bases-loaded walk, and had RBI singles in the fifth and sixth, when Washington batted around for four runs off reliever Jorge Sosa. His sacrifice in the fourth put runners on second and third before Figueroa made his throwing error. He finished 3-for-3 and is hitting .313 on the season. Too bad his hitting stats can't count in Fantasy. As far as pitching, Perez has done better than expected, but playing for the Nationals, he won't be a consistent winner. Perez remains more of a NL-only Fantasy SP. His next scheduled start is for Saturday at Baltimore. He took a no decision and posted a 7.20 ERA in his lone start against Baltimore as a member of the Royals in 2007. (Updated 05/13/2008).
Perez allowed four runs and a season-high 11 hits in 6 1-3 innings of a 10-4 win over the Mets on Monday for his first victory of the season. He also went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. (Updated 05/13/2008)
Advice
Perez has pitched well this season, but never received much offensive support before Monday. He had received only 13 runs of support in his first eight start, but was backed by 10 runs on Monday. He is 1-3 with a 3.71 ERA.
