According to The Sports Xchange notes: C Vance Wilson is now having foot problems as he tries to return to Detroit after Tommy John surgery last June. Wilson is suffering from plantar fasciitis and can't run after progressing from his arm trouble to the point where he can make a throw to second base with no problem. "He can throw," manager Jim Leyland said, "but he can't walk." Wilson had been catching bullpen sessions and was close to being a designated hitter when the foot problem happened. It will take some time to get the foot right and then more time for Wilson to get back his timing at the plate. Only then will he be ready for a rehab assignment. (Updated 04/30/2008).
Injury Report
Elbow, foot - 15-day DL. Out until at least early June (Updated - 4/30/08)
Fantasy Analysis
Wilson is nothing more than a reserve catcher for the deepest of AL-only leagues once healthy. Consider to ignore him in all formats at this point. (Updated 04/30/2008).
Wilson's arm is doing better in recent weeks after struggling to regain strength following Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery last summer according to the Tigers' official Web site. However, chronic plantar fasciitis has slowed Wilson's rehab. (Updated 05/07/2008)
Advice
Wilson, who has been catching bullpen sessions, is still a few weeks away from returning to the Tigers' lineup.
