The Sports Xchange reports that manager Jim Leyland held Sheffield out of the lineup Wednesday night at Kansas City and said when Sheffield returns Thursday it will be as Detroit's designated hitter. And that's how it will remain, with one interleague exception. Leyland said. However, Leyland will have Sheffield in left field for one of the three interleague contests in Arizona this weekend.
