Okajima finally comes through: LHP Hideki Okajima came through in a large situation with a pair of inherited runners in Monday night's win over the Twins -- a situation that has been a large trouble spot for the lefty reliever all season. Okajima entered the game with two runners on in the eighth and loaded the bases with a walk before retiring a pair of Twins batters to end the threat. The performance raised Okajima's total to five out of 17 inherited runners prevented from scoring this season, and Sox manager Terry Francona hoped it was a turning point in the reliever's season. Fantasy Analysis
Okajima will no longer serve as the Red Sox's setup man and should be considered nothing more than a lefty reliever for the deepest of leagues that use true middle men. That might make him a candidate for more relief victories now, though. Most important is he won't save games here on out and might get fewer holds. (Updated 07/08/2008).
