Fantasy Analysis
Owings might have cost himself a chance for a fifth win, but the good news is that he made vast improvements from his previous two starts. Owings was tagged for 15 hits and 11 earned runs in his previous 10 2/3 innings. He looked much better Wednesday, dare to say the kid who opened the season 4-0. Perhaps Owings was a little better than his fantastic start let on, but he is still talented and the Diamondbacks will make him a consistent winner. Owings remains a decent low-end Fantasy SP in mixed leagues. His next scheduled start is for Tuesday against the Rockies, a team he beat April 4 allowing one run and two hits in 6 2/3 innings. He is on track to be a two-start pitcher Fantasy Week 7 (May 12-18) with his second start coming against the Tigers. (Updated 05/08/2008).
Owings struggled in the host Diamondbacks' 6-2 loss to the New York Mets on Friday. (Updated 05/03/2008)
