A value overview in handicapping MLB is finding attraction from the night prior's over evaluation. Yesterday the Cubs received prime support as they took the field with Jake Arrieta as an underdog. Of course just two years ago he had pitched a no-hitter in a prime time spot against the Dodgers. The Cubs fell flat yesterday and did so with zero run support. Saturday though look for the Cubs second night in Los Angeles to fare better. Jon Lackey whom is coming off consecutive short outings of allowing four total home runs is devalued here with a 4.82 ERA. Grab the Cubs.
Cubs starter John Lackey hasn't been having a great year, posting a 4.82 ERA that's backed up 4.93 FIP. Brandon McCarthy is having a great year, and threw six shutout innings against the Cubs in Wrigley back in April. The Dodgers are having a great May, posting a 15-8 record this month, and they're exceptional at home, going 19-8 with a plus-61 run differential. I love taking the Dodgers at home at such a low price, even against a good team like the Cubs.
I like the value on the World Series champs with an underdog price Saturday against the Dodgers. Chicago has won four straight road starts by John Lackey against winning teams and his 6-1 in his last seven road outings overall. The Dodgers are 8-2 on the last 10 starts by Brandon McCarthy, but I think he's getting too much respect from the market here.
