Josh Willingham Update
Josh Willingham managed only two swings during an aborted session inside the batting cage on Monday, further delaying his comeback from a strained lower back. Willingham described the outcome as "very disappointing."
"I probably won't take a swing tomorrow," Willingham revealed after Monday's game. "I'll probably wait until Wednesday to see. You just go with it day to day."
Willingham, who was hitting .341 with six home runs at the time he was placed on the disabled list with the back injury, is eligible to come off the DL today. But that's not happening, and Willingham said he isn't sure when he'll be able to see playing action, even in a minor-league rehab stint.
"We don't have a date set on it or anything," he said.
He had planned to test the back Monday in the indoor batting cage at Great American Ballpark. But it took only two cuts to convince Willingham that his back was too sore to continue.
