If things keep up the way that they are going, it looks like we have two legitimate all-star qualifiers in Grienke and Soria. None of the hitters seems like he wants to be an All-Star so far.

I will streak naked at a Royals game if a position player gets an allstar invite.

Grienke maybe if he keeps it going..  but Soria has got a lot of competion at the closer spot.

I think Greinke and Soria are LOCKS at this point of the season.   Of course things can change but Soria has been as dominant as anyone and Greinke's numbers are top 5 in all of major league baseball right up there with Cliff Lee, Jake Peavy, Tim Hudson, Carlos Zambrano and Brandon Webb.

I'll go a little further and say that Zack has a chance to start the all-star game.  Assuming Lee comes back to earth and Zack can maintain what he is doing it will be close.

Man I wish Grienke well. He was the only player I would pay to watch on that roster a few years back.  Yeah but Soria is not going to win the closer role over Mariona Riveria  in the all star game.  Is there more than one closer on the allstar roster? If so he could be there.  How long has it been since we had more than the mandatory  1 player competeing in the allstar game?  I hate the economic structure in baseball it's a bunch of crap Ollaaa..

Maybe not if fans were involved. If fans were involved Joe Borowski would have a better shot than Soria. But, as it is, fans don't pick the pitchers. And that gives Jacky a better shot.

Currently Zach Greinke has the second best ERA in the AL at 1.80

Currently Mariano Rivera and Joakim Soria are the only AL closers who haven't given up an earned run yet this season.

That being said and if these trends continue through the end of June, we'ld be robbed if these two pitchers aren't in the All Star game.

Since ARod and Lowell have both spent time on the DL this year, Gordon could find a spot as a reserve 3rd baseman if he could catch fire for the next 6 weeks.  For whatever reason, AL 3rd basemen have not been lighting up the scoreboards yet this season.  Of course ARod will win the start by the fan vote, and once he's healthy, certainly capable of earning that spot as well.

That's the biggest problem with the all-star game.  The fans vote in people who don't deserve it just because of popularity.  Even though it seldom makes a difference, I try to pick players based on the season's performance.  It's supposed to be a reward for the current season, not for past seasons.  That said, Greinke and Soria are definitely deserving.  However, I would say that only one of them will probably make it.  Just a feeling I have -- and it will probably be Greinke because Rivera will get the closer pick on popularity.

The pitchers for the All Star game will be determined by Terry Fancona.  Remember, the fans only choose the position players, the manager picks the pitchers.

The fans only pick the starting position players. The manager picks the reserves and the pitchers with the requirement of at least 1 representative from each team. Most years there are several closers on the all-star teams as middle relief/set-up pitchers are often overlooked. There is a good shot at both Grienke & Soria make the all-star team, but not much chance of Gordon. The Royals will not have a good enough record to merit 3 all-stars. Gordon may have comprable stats to the other 3rd basemen in the league, but when that happens it almost always goes to the player on the hot team or in the big market. He would have to have substantially better stats than other 3rd basemen to make it. Not saying it's right, but that's the way it is.

Go Royals!!

Greinke and Soria will be All-Stars.   By the way, there can be several closers on the team if that's what the manager and coaches decide to go with.  Keep in mind that after the starter its usually 1 IP for everyother pitcher.    All St
