Kobe is treated better because Ocho Cinco is black. That's the standard Freeman line, isn't it? Oh, and nice red herring with the whole rape charge nonsense. That accusation was shown to be so ridiculous that the overzealous prosecutor didn't even dare to bring it to trial. You can certainly make a case for Bryant being a philandering jerk, but to attempt to tar him as a rapist is disingenuous at best.

Maybe, just maybe, Bryant gets some respect because of what he does between the lines. Bryant is the consensus best player in his league. Johnson is arguably not even the best player at his position on his own losing team. Being excellent has its advantages, some of which spill over into other areas. Of course, I wouldn't expect Freeman to readily grasp that concept.

Do you know who Kobe Bryant is?

I thought he was the love child of the late Alabama coach Bear Bryant and Miyoshi Umeki from "The Courtship of Eddie's Father". Who were you thinking of?

Of course he knows who Kobe is...he's the CEO of the new Japanese Steak House Chain....Geez Reggie...how you put up with it I don't know.

By the way...do you see my new great rating of AS...some dimwit named "Don't Mess WIth Me" of amateur status gave me a warning...I think twice...and dropped me down...I guess he wasn't joking with his moniker...

Kobe is the best player in the league? Last I saw Lebron is just about the only player Cleveland has and wouldn't even have made the playoffs without him.

Last I saw Lebron is just about the only player Cleveland has and wouldn't even have made the playoffs without him.I said Kobe was the consensus best player in the league. I didn't say that no one could make an argument for anyone else. If you like Bron-bron better, I'm O.K. with that, but it doesn't disprove my statement.

I do think winning has everything to do with Kobe being forgiven.  DEFINITELY!!!  The problem I have is that Chad Johnson is being termed as a bad guy.  I don't see him in the same light as TO (was before this year) or Randy Moss (before this year).  Chad is a tough hard nose player how like to have fun.  He requested to be traded after being crapped on by his coach and the media.  The Bengals suck and while that is no reason to request a trade I do understand Chad's frustrations.  He was celebrating and talking to the media for years when they were winning.  All of a sudden they start losing and he is the cause because he talks and celebrates to much?  BS  He is a pretty stand up type of guy and I like Chad.  Kobe was selfish for years but this year he has calmed down and played team ball.  He played like an MVP and deserved the trophy.  He has pouted before in the past but now he is winning and all is forgiven.  Chad has never been like Kobe.  I'm a Laker fan so I got Kobe's back but he has been way worse of a complainer than Chad ever has been.  The crap he pulled last off season what Oscar type stuff.  Real dramatic.  Chad is a good guy that is portrayed bad in the media.

I agree that Chad is not a bad guy, but he has not handled himself or the media well lately. I was a big Chad fan until all of this came up. He was entertaining and goofy without being disrespectful or mean. But let's say you are his teammate, and are just plain sick of losing. All of a sudden, the dances and costumes wouldn't seem quite so cute. especially from a guy whose personal numbers are slumping. I could see Johnson not taking well to toning it down, but I would never have expected him to pout and stamp his feet as he has done.

That being said, it's a long time until the start of the season, or even summer camp for that matter. There have been plenty of players who have demanded trades, and then got religion when they were looking at the reality of a protracted holdout.
