How many games will Jason Schmidt pitch this year for the Dodgers?

From Yahoo Sports:

May 11 Schmidt (shoulder) threw one perfect inning in his first rehab assignment game for High-A Inland Empire on Sunday, the LA Times reports.

Recommendation: Schmidt's fastball topped out at 88 mph. He threw 12 pitches - 10 fastballs and two changeups.

Shoulder injuries and 30+ aging pitchers don't mix good juju. Write this one off as a loss.

And if I'm wrong, do we really need another 4ER/5IP starter anyway?

I just have lost hope in Schmidt staying healthy.  It seems that he is on a rehab start all the time.  I don't think he has a shoulder left.  If his fastball tops out at 88 and his only other pitch he can throw is his change he will get tore up when he comes back.  His slider was huge in its day but with his velocity down guys will sit on the fastball and adjust to everything else.  I think he will put more stress on the Dodger bullpen then he will do good for the team.  I hope I eat some crow,  he comes back and stays healthy but I will say this.  Wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first!

Maybe I'm drinking Blue Kool Aid here but I think Jason Schmidt is on track in his rehab. Consider the major surgery he underwent and that he's into his first rehab games and it's not surprising that he's in the high 80s. My understanding is that the Dodgers are asking him to hold it back to around 75% not to let it rip. That should indicate that he is capable of throwing in the 93-94 range but needs to build up his arm and shoulder strength.

Unless therre's something we don't know, which is always a possibility, this seems to be far from a lost cause. And I would love to see him stabilize that 5th spot in the rotation, which would also take some of the pressure off Brad Penny and Derek Lowe.

The worst thing that could happen is that he stinks and we aren't in any different situation than we have been in the last year..otherwise..only positive things can come from this...he's either going to help or everything will stay the same....I say give him a couple starts once he's ready.

We might as well start Jason Schmidt if he returns, even if he is throwing 88.  Brad Penny, Derek Lowe, Chad Billingsley and Hiroki Kuroda haven't giving us many quality starts anyway.  The Dodgers are in a spin mode since Juan Pierre has become that leadoff hitter again.  His arm in left is so bad, he won't even attempt to throw a guy out at the plate or at 2nd on a routine basehit.  I can't even say a thing positive right now about the blue except that we are in 2nd and 4 1/2 games behind the Diamondbacks.  Thanks for waiting Snakes.  Beat the Brewers please because the dreaded Angles are on deck.

Sorry but make that Angels because all the angles we have been playing are not working for the Dodgers.  Even 500 again and that 8 gamer seems like a long time ago now.  Beat the Brewers.

His career is over. He will not be productive in the bigs. Just another waste of money our GM has spent on has beens.
