The optimistic posts on this page are astounding to me.  Don't get me wrong i love kansas state.  I absolutely love this university and town in general.  However, it is obvious to me that Ron Prince is not the man we need leading this program.  We are NOT moving in the right direction.  The turnover in assistant coaches is evidence enough that we have great internal problems.  I appreciate all the optimism and i hope i am dead wrong but, i don't think i am.  I hope the season makes me eat my words.  If not we need to move in a different direction.

I'm just tired of being negative all of the time.  I'm not a masochist, I actually want to be hyped about every season.

I must say that I am truly optimistic for the coming season. If the defense can play solid throughout the year and we can get some WR's to step up I see no reason why we can't return to the top of the Big XII. A couple of if's but I was pleased with the way the defense played in the spring game.
Health was another big issue. We had a lot of injuries last year, especially on defense. I have expectations of a 7-9 win season (9 on the optimistic side).
Let me explain the reasons why a little further.
1. Health- already covered.
2. We were a minute or two from adding 2 more wins to our season lasts year.
Auburn and Oklahoma State. You might even add KU and ISU to that list. A play or two from W's in all those games. If we show more consistency on defense and can reduce fumbles by the TE's as we are moving in to score (OSU game... I'm still bitter). Then we would have been in a bowl game last year.

I agree, we need to stop the departures from our coaching staff and start recruiting high schoolers, but..... I see no reason, especially at this point in time, to get down about KSU football. I'm having a hard enough time with the lack of football in the summer. I don't want to make the time worse by having to listen to blind pessimism throughout the summer. I would prefer not to slowly sink into a football-less depression. Don't knock my optimism.

Because we are fans.  That is what fans do, thisi s a new season with all new possibilities.  Who knows maybe Prince has found his happy place and has the pieces he needs in place.  But mostly you have to be optimistic to begin every season or what is the use in following your team?  Just ask Chicago Cubs fans!

I think you need to give every coach until his third and fourth year....We need to see huge improvement on the defense this year and even more next or then I would agree we made a mistake

I'd be happy with 8-4 this year if we lose the 4 close....next year we need to be 10-2 or it's time for a change...

The corn are very excited about Pelini, but being a good coordinator never assures that you will be a good coach.  Look at Mike Stoops out in Arizona, I was always holding out hope that he would come back to KSU when Snyder stepped down, not likely to coach against his bro though.  We will see what happens with Bo, I think their biggest mistake in program history was letting Solich go.
