Because, despite the fact that he pays lip-service to "blaming himself" after games, he is trying his best to deflect the blame away from himself for a truly horrible ND team last year. Im not a ND hater or lover, but Charlie is one of those rare coaches that takes full blame regardless of the outcome. He is just stating his feelings about another school while remaining on the fence. No real story here.

Personally I think that giving credit to the other team is the classy thing to do.  For instance, Jim Tressel, never any excuses, never any "we beat ourselves, we messed up."  Always gives credit to the other team for being good/playing well, etc.

You can't sit there and say Weis never blames anyone else... Just last week wasn't he blaming the fact that he can't recruit "thugs." Or something on that side of ridiculous.

But he will never blame his beloved cheeseburgers.  Charlie needs to come up with excuses for why his genius offense is getting soundly thrashed.  Remember his Xs and Os advantage?  he he

Derekross,

I think you might be taking what he said about the thugs a little out of context. I dont really remember the article but I dont think he was blaming him losing on that. But that is just my opinion.

As a UofM fan I can't see giving the opposition bulletin board material. I know he wants to fire up the home crowd and make a statement, but it would be wise to avoid giving a team any reason to get up for a game.

Let the players do the talking. You think Weiss would be pissed if Claussen made the statement... We will kick USC overrated A$$. My guess is he would.

Weiss is coaching for his job, heat is on Domers do not stand for consecutive losing seasons. I think maybe Charlie is feeling the pressure and looking for anyway to gain support from the alums.

Chucky is a joke of a coach.  When he was winning (albeit only against weak teams) with Ty's experienced players he was taking credit for his coaching genius.  Three years in he was getting his butt handed to him and he basically pinned the blame on Ty's "poor recruiting".  Weis just isn't a good head coach and he isn't good at developing talent.

And taking shots at Michigan for making excuses, when they haven't made excuses is classless.  Especially since it's far from a lock that ND will win the game.  I'll be rooting for Michigan to win that game, just so I can hear reporters ask Chucky about his "excuses" comments.

Like I said in the first post I think I wrote please dont turn this into a ND bashing thread. I guess that was a little too hard for you. The fact is Weis took a team that was 6-6 and turned them into a 9-3 and a 10-3 team. So that is pretty good if you ask me. I would like to see what he can do with this young talent. 1 bad year doesnt mean he cant develop talent. You sit there and say that ND was playing only weak teams and Weis was getting all of the credit. Well tell me this, in the past 3 years since Weis has taken over name 1 win that tOSU has that you will say is a quality win. What the game at Texas when Colt McCoy was in his second game of his career.  That is about all I can think of. The rest of the teams you beat, ND has played them as well, and have beaten them, so does that mean tOSU has only beaten weak teams.

Lets see how tOSU does this year since they actually have scheduled a tough OCC. Then maybe then you can say other teams play weak schedules and brag about beating tough opponents.

Sorry, but Charlie is a poor excuse for a head coach. He is better suited as an assistant in the NFL. I don't get the feeling he doesn't great people skills.

Its ok, you dont have to say sorry. The difference is your not sitting here saying ND only has wins against weak teams. We will see how great of a coach he is in the next couple of years. If he can turn ND into a national championship contender then I think that will change a lot of peoples mind.
