How does a 30-7-7-1-1 guy walk away from 2008 empty-handed. Lebron plays much better defense and is a team-first guy. When someone's got the hot hand he finds them in the corner, unlike Kobe who tries to create shots for himself. Kobe is a great player but this season LeBron carried his team through injuries and holdouts. He is the most valuable player for his team, Without him the Cavs are a below average team, Isnt the name of the award Most Valuable Player? Not the best player on the best team award. Lebron is my MVP of 2008.

With Lebron playing in the western conference, he doesn't even make the playoffs. His sorry ass team would have finished behind Denver by like 3 or 4 games. Kobe  took his team to first place in what has easily been the toughest and closest most competitive race in the west ever. Maybe you only see Cavs televised games in your area dude!

 Enough said.

quick question for you Kobe fans...

why is it the only time Kobe has a team in contention for a championship is when there's someone else carrying the team? Lebron doesn't need anybody else. single handedly willed his team to the championships. now i know whatchu dumbasses are gonna say (yes i am a mind reader) but he didn't win. rebuttle: he's gotten closer to a championship by himself than kobe has with a much better team than lebron's. so now you're gonna say (mind reading) "how many championships does kobe have?" rebuttle: the same amount as Bill Cartwright 3. and just like bill cartwright, Kobe was a cast player to Shaq. here's what i ask you: how many times have you said "kobe's gonna lead this team to a championship" when he was the only star and how many times have you been right?  i know tha answer to that riddle NONE

joemitche61.. I think you're missing the point of this message board.  We're not arguing about who is better - Kobe or LeBron - we're arguing about who should win MVP.  In case you haven't been paying attention to the league's MVP's as of late, it doesn't necessarily go to the player that has the best stats.  It goes to the player with the best stats on the best team - at least most of the time.

The reason LeBron has been unable to reach the next level is because he is still new to this league.  He has most certainly made his fair share of clutch shots and had a ton of a monster fourth quarters that led his team to victory.  However, Kobe has more experience and is able to teach his team.  LeBron cannot.  Perhaps that is why Kobe is able to make his team even better that what LeBron can do.  Passing the ball only goes so far.

LeBron, better defensively? That's a good joke. How many first or 2nd or 3rd team D's has LeBron been named to? Zero....

I'm a Laker fan and think that LeBron will be the best ever (so far he's been better than anyone at a similar age in the history of the NBA). But, lets not get ahead of ourselves. I have no doubt LeBron will be better, he just isn't yet.

think tha'ts true huh?!

ya wanna compare Kobe's rookie stats to Lebron's?

Lebron: 20pts 6ast 6 reb  Kobe: 8pts 3ast 2reb

or le'ts be fair because Kobe sucked his rookie season, let's try

Lebron: 27pts 7ast 7reb   Kobe: 16pts 3ast 3reb

let's skip to 4th year cause it'll look a little better

Lebron: 27pts 6ast 7reb   Kobe: 23pts 5ast  7reb

as a matter of fact, it took Kobe 7 years to put up the type of numbers Lebron was puttin up his second year. how who's not better than who yet?

In reply to Joemitche61.

I think it's very unfair to Lebron first years in the n.b.a and Kobe's. You have to realize that Kobe went to a team that was a top team in the league already. Lebron went to a last place team. Don't forget Lebron was the focus of the Cavs offense. Was Kobe the focus of the Lakers offense???  Do you think if Kobe went to a terrible team he would have been the focus of the offense?? I think sooo!

Bottom line......you cannot compare these 2 players first years in the league......different situations!!! They both grew to be great players in the end!!

I'm out!!
