In honor of Cinco de Mayo, the Salty Iguana in Independence, MO held their annual Iguana Races this afternoon. Coach Bill Self made an appearence there earlier in the day. The Final Four racing iguanas were named Home Depot, Carl Peterson, Frank Martin and Mark Mangino. Home Depot and Carl Peterson were blown out in the semifinal races. Track pundits commented that Carl Peterson had little experience winning in the playoffs. Mangino and Martin met in the championship race in a Sunflower Showdown, of sorts. The race wasn't even close. Mangino won by over four iguana lengths. Observers of the race noted that Martin was badly undersized in the matchup. The finals were broadcast on WHB Sports Radio. Honest.

Holy cow.....I can't believe I missed the Races!!  Sounds like Mangino was larger than life, crushing all competition.  Anytime you have an iguana win by over 4 lengths, that is just amazing.  I was surprised that Carl Peterson was even in the Final Four race, he is just not geared for any kind of a championship run.  All in all, sounds like it was a great time...thanks for the update!
