Kansas City and Miami had the best drafts, and that is obvious with the talent that they landed. But the New York Jets and the Baltimore Ravens both had great drafts, and Prisco knocked them. Gholston is overrated??? You are a fool, Prisco. This guy is a great talent, and a rock at 258 pounds. He beat the #1 pick Jake Long for the only sacks that he had in college. 14 sacks in 2007.

And the Ravens? They traded up to land Joe Flacco after the Falcons took Matt Ryan, which made the most sense. And then they drafted Ray Rice, a bruising running back that they needed after losing Jamal Lewis. And Pete doesn't like Ray Rice? Prisco is too busy kissing up to teams like New England and Dallas. The Cowboys draft was worthless when they made the Pacman deal. Why would you want that thug in your locker room, especially with another head case in Terrell Owens?

Last but not least, all this article mentions is that Glenn Dorsey dropped to 5th. Why would the Falcons pass on Matt Ryan to take a DT that has been injured for 2 years, and needed a stimulus machine attached to him before every practice? He went too high at #5, but Prisco bashed every team that didn't pick him. Well Pete, here is a grade for you: D across the board. You are a poor Journalist.

i won'd want this to be an attack on ohio state, but it may sound like it. I watched  ohio state games last year which happened to be against probably the two best teams they played in illinois and lsu.  if you would have told me Vernon Gholston was going to be the 6th overall pick after either of those game i'd have slapped you in the face and called you a filthy liar.  i don't recall him being on the field in the illnois game.  they did whatever they wanted all game long without having a qb that could throw the ball.

and then watching the title game, which i really wanted ohio state to win by the way, there was one defensive player that i thought should be a top 10 player in this draft, and it sure wasn't gholston.  this time, i'd been hearing a lot of pre draft buildup about him, so i made it a point to watch him throughout the game, and i basically saw the lsu players running circles around him.  meanwhile, aside from one nice run by beanie wells, i sway dorsey annihilate the entire ohio state offensive line, doing whatever he wanted all game.

even the Jets had him as their 3rd option for what they thought would be their.  granted, fourteen sacks is impressive,as is beating Jake Long (once by the way, not twice),  but nearly everyone agreed that once his combine buzz went down a little and scouts got back to the game tape, he really was more like a top 25 talent, rather than a top 5 talent.

kooterfunk....i agree with your post 110% ....but I would like to make a point or two....first off  it makes no sense when   Prisco writes that Chris Long was  the best pick for the Rams, in fact the number #1 talent on Prisco's board....then  in the next breath  makes   the pick  the rams most questionable pick with Dorsey still on the board....HUH?????.....I feel Gholston was the Jets pick because everyone expected them to take him....living in Wisconsin  , we too get a lot of Ohio State games, and I didn't see a guy that played until the whistle on every down...that's not an indictment on Ohio State by a Badger fan but rather just what i see as fact.....and last, Outside of Chris Long and Glenn Dorsey, I can't see where the Talent  at the top of this year's draft matches the  talent from last year's crop at the top...I  agree  with Miami's choice of Jake Long mainly because he was a need pick,  he's no better than Joe Thomas (my apologies for sounding like a homer here) who was picked  3rd by the Browns last year, and in all honesty while they're about equal as run blockers, Thomas IS the superior pass blocker.....I also don't agree with Atlanta taking Matt Ryan #3...while its important to put the whole Michael Vick  saga behind the franchise, picking Dorsey would've been the much smarter choice, if for nothing else lessening the pressure on whatever young QB were  to be under center, rather it be 2008 or beyond.....there's a reason the Falcons are in shambles, and it goes way beyond the Vick episode,  its just a poorly ran franchise....

If the Patriots took Gholston, Pricko would have said this was a great move to replace Seymour and given them an A, but since the Jets got him he's overrated...

Yeah Prisco earns an F for his poor analysis in my opinion.  He's pretty bias as had been mentioned as some teams can do no wrong in the draft when others can do no right.  Year after year its the same story, we just have to see how it all plays out because lets face it the draft is a crapshoot.  Hopefully your team has success but majority of these players will be mediocre to say the least and will never be heard from again so good luck!

I dont see anyone outside of the Jags organization and fan base say that the move up to get Harvey was a good move. They gave up way too much for a player that may well have been there at their original pick or close to it. Harvey will not be a double digit sack player for at least 2 years.

A 'B-' is generous to say the least.

so according to Prisco, there's going to be a heck of a lot of 10 yr. starters in this draft.  RIdiculous, to go out there and call any first, second, and third rounder a 10 yr starter, Prisco must not have checked the Draft's track record, there are always busts up and down the board, every single round, and every single pick

The ten year bias is just a way for someone to say that they are correct in the future.  For example, if someone makes that statement on five players, saying that they will all be five year starters, and only one of those 5 works out they still look good.  We tend to forget the statement on the other four and build up the fact that they were correct on Player X.  The best example of this is Mel Kiper Jr..  We are constantly reminded of these correct picks/predictions that Kiper makes, but we fail to be exposed to the high number of incorrect statements.  When Prisco (and he is not alone in doing this) makes an extreme amount of these types of predictions he is just setting himself up to say that he was right about specific players and it is safe to do.  If someone is a bust they are dropped out of the mainstream and we don't talk about them; there is just very little benefit in saying players will be mediocre and alot of "upside potential" in saying they will be a ten year starter.
