With Jahvid Best being injured, and Montgomery leaving (to coach the basketlball team apparently), CAL's tailback position has a few question marks.  This is what I can see of the situation now.  Hopefully, others can fill in more.

Jahvid Best:  (5-11, 185, 4.4) No guarantees, but seems to be coming along well from his injury.  He ran individual drills during Spring Practice, but no drills with the team.  If healthy, he's the number 1 guy.

Terry Slocum:  (5-10, 192, 4.5)  (5-9, 170, 4.5)  Showed some good running in Spring practice.  Doesn't have the pure speed of Best, but is tough between the tackles.  At this point, he's the number 2 guy.

Shane Vareen:  Injured hamstring for Spring drills.  When healthy, he will battle Slocum for the #2 role.  All three of these guys should see playing time.

Cameron DeBoskie:  (6-0, 186, 4.48)  May redshirt if others all healthy, or could see playing time if not.  A bit faster than Slocum, and a bit larger than Vareen, he could be a very effective runner in time.

All sounds good to me, except I believe it's "Tracy" Slocum and "Cavonaugh" DeBoskie.

I think Cal's running backs will be great as usual.  Best has the ability to be one of the "Best"

I think I was half asleep when I wrote that, (being a morning person).  Yeah, Tracy Slocum, and Covaughn DeBoskie.  I was looking right at their names while writing the post, too.
Thanks for the correction.

glad you made it out to practice, I wanted to go but couldn't make it.  Ive been impressed with Jahvid but always thought he lacked a good amount of size.  Looking at those numbers though, I guess hes really not that small. I definitely think Covaughn will have a huge impact in a couple years, which is nice. What did you see along the lines of receivers- considering DeSean is a dumbass and should have stayed.

I didn't make it to practices, but I have been reading info on the web to get a feel for things.  With the receivers, I don't have as clear a picture, but I can say that we have plenty of talent, but not much experience.  I think we'll be okay.  I expect Cameron Morrah (TE) to see a lot of work until the QB's can trust the wideouts a bit more.

Breaking down the Offense next year:

 I don't see any of the WR's having a breakout year(with the exception of Nyan Boateng), but I think that Tedford will be able to get solid production out of the group.  Larelleylle Cunningham, Michael Calvin, And Boateng are my projected starters.  The O-line should be great with Alex Mack, Mike Tepper, Chet Teofilo, Noris Malele, and Matt Summers-Gavin.

Sorry about the repeating post.

breaking down the offense(cont):

The runningback position may not be  loaded with experience, but there are some guys that have great potential, such as Best, Deboskie, and Vareen.  Quarterback is the second strongest spot after the O-line.  The QB battle between Longshore and Riley should be fun to watch.
