I think you will be surprised, this guy can coach, I have watched Umass for the past 2 seasons he knows how to develop material, and he is a great bench coach, you will hope you can keep him in a couple of years, if I were you I would do my home work before I said to much negitive stuff.Ford is a pretty good coach with a lot of unexpressed potential at UMass. Face it, they don't have the resources or name recognition of a bigger program so we may see Ford's recruiting talents and bench smarts better expressed at OSU.
lots of people are going to second-guess this decision from both sides but OSU might be taking the right route. there are two schools of thought:
> buy a top Coach with a long term proven track record for "instant wins" (i.e Pitino - L'ville) or
> get a mid-tier Coach with a great but short track record and give him some time to develop a long term program (Donovan from Marshall to UF)
it's obvious from OSU's behavior that they clearly preferred the former (Self) but that doesn't make the latter a bad choice either.
