Yo Kat : Let me make this clear so even a dimwit like yourself can understand. Yankee and D.J. fans don't give a rats ass what other so called pollsters and computer generated mumbo jumbo wants people do believe. All the attributes that D.J. brings to the Yankees and the game of baseball, are more important than anti-Yankee and anti-D.J. talk. Remember the play at the plate against the A's ? I can't think of another player who would have been that heads up as D.J. was. We just don't care what you think !!!! Get that through your thick skull. Bye-Bye Jackass !!!!!

D.J....thats cute, you gave him a nickname. You guys are funny.
Dont think that the reason behind you guys not getting Johan is because of giving up your young pitching. The reason why is because the Cashman realized that the only way a championship will come in the near future is if his team has chemistry.
When you buy the best players you are going to have a "good'' team. But that team has a lot a ego's. They are all making top money, they are all the best at their position and their "Will" to play hard,(after getting thier over paid contract from the Yankees) is gone. They dont have a good future becaues you are ultimatily buying a player for 5 years and unless you win a championship in his contract peroid your screwed( for a lack of better words)
Examples: Damon, if the Red Sox wanted to keep him and felt that he could produce at the level he did in 2004 they would of gave him a longer contract like the yankees did. Now the yankees are stuck with a number 4 outfielder and his contract.
Jeter is over paid and wouldn't get that money if he didnt play for New York. I know that your WILLINESS to understand or even listen isnt going to happen because he cannot do wrong in your eyes. I understand that. But thats the facts. Compare his stats(regular season) with Ichiro and tell me the difference...and ill tell you the difference. His salary. High market teams can afford to over pay for players.
Dont be surprised if your beloved Yankees finish third and miss the playoffs. Picthing wins games(reguardless of how much offense you have) and the Blue Jays have better picthing then the Yankees. Can wait to see you "reply"

ah yes pitching does win games as we saw last night with Wang utterly dominating the Sux.
But I digress. about the Damon thing, Damon wanted out of there pretty bad apparently, because he didn't even give the Sux a chance to counter offer according to ESPN and John Henry.
As far as Jeter goes, yes the Yanks are paying him $21 mil, but the sox are paying Lugo $9.25 mil, and Jeter is far better. Lets compare, shall we?
Career stats
BA: Jeter .317, Lugo .271
OBP: Jeter .388, Lugo .333
SLG: Jeter .462, Lugo .394
OBPS: Jeter .850, Lugo .727
AB/HR: Jeter 38, Lugo 52.5
AB/RBI: Jeter 7.9, Lugo 9.7
AB/BB: jeter 9.8, Lugo 11.1
AB/SO: Jeter 5.7, Lugo 5.5
FLD%: Jeter .975, Lugo .966
Games/Error: Jeter 9.4, Lugo 6.5
How about in the post season?
BA: Jeter .309, Lugo .233
OBP: Jeter .377, Lugo .303
SLG: Jeter .469, Lugo .300
OBPS: Jeter .846, Lugo .603!!!
AB/HR: Jeter 29.1, Lugo never in 60 AB
AB/RBI: Jeter 10.1, Lugo 20
AB/BB: Jeter 9.7, Lugo 10
AB/SO: Jeter 5.1, Lugo 5
He seems to be worth the difference in pay to me. Perhaps Boston is overpaying?

So you forget about Ichiro right. I said that Ichiro is under paid and you go and look up stats about Lugo. Lugo isnt the face of the NO TEAMS franchise.
Yeah Lugo is overpaid but how many players on the sox are over paid? one maybe two. Lets look at the Yankees; I'll start at the top of the batting order. Leading off Damon, then Jeter, Giambi, and A-Rod. Thats their top for batters and they total salary is $85,737,096.
Their total salary is more then 16 teams total salary. not to mention A-Rod gets more money then an entire team (Marlins)
Thats not including their overpaid pitching. Pettitte, Mussina, Riveria, and Pavano. All of which are in thier late 30's and end of their career and Pavano is a joke. The Yankees saved the Redsox so much money there. Thanks Again! Those for pitchers cost $47,570,423
Thats 8 players for a total of $133,307,519. No Yankee fan can talk about any player being over paid. With 8 players all towards their end of their career(except a-rod and jeter) getting a stupid amount of money. Those 8 players cost more then every team except one.
And as far as the Yankees game yesterday. Thats your number 1 pitcher going. He needs to win. you have no other pitchers. thats our 5th starting pitcher and he didnt pitch bad either. and hes like 20 years old. Great future! As far as Damons counter offer, thats because he knew that the sox wouldn't pay that money for a 2 year player. The same thing goes for Pedro. The Red Sox let him go and he hasnt been the same since. The Yankees method of buying players to win championship isnt going to work anymore so they are trying different like building new statiums to better suit their players to hit more homeruns.
LOL, whos the manger of the all-star game in NY.....We decide whether you play or not. LOL
Check out for youself.......http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/salaries?team=nyy

Perhaps kat2mars doesn't understand the point of baseball. The point of baseball is to win more games than your opponent and win the World Series. The Yankees have won twice as many World Series titles than any other teams and have won 10 out of the last 11 AL East Championships. Teams do not finish based on who gets the best deal for a player (that is called Fantasy Baseball). Let me put it in different terms. The Taurus might be rated a best buy, but sometimes you just got spend the money and get the Corvette. Dollar for dollar it might not be the best buy on the market, but boy does it hum on the highway. The Yankees may not be the best buy in baseball but down the stretch they really start to hum. Year in and year out, they have been the class of baseball.

KentDav....u r a Yankee fan!.....it explains ur small brain. Always talking about the past and never talking about the future. THE FUTURE WILL TURN INTO THE PAST! Yeah the Yankees have more championships then any team but when thats because they have a HISTORY of buying the best players while others got draft picks. now the Yankees have to pay to say a contender. Instead of developing players like other teams have done. Teams like the Redsox, Jays, Rays, Indians, Tigers(thier pitchers), D-backs.
Now they are realizing that and because their are more talent then their was 20 years ago, theirs more competition. When was the last time the Yankees won a chapionship? Heres a better question; When was the last time the Yankees won a championship without being number one in payroll?
That franchise is a joke and so is their fans. Its ok to take steroids and still be allowed to play. What makes it worst is they lie about taking it, make a deal and then tell the truth. Then the fans of New York cheer when that player hits a homerun! Way to go Giambi!

When was the last time the Red Sux won a championship without being #2 in payroll? Only until this year were they passed by other teams, so they buy the championships too. OF the Free agents: Curt Shilling, Josh Beckett, Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Julio Lugo, Mike Lowell, JD Drew, Coco Crisp, Dice-K, Tim Wakefield. Of the 14 guys that "start" (5 pitchers, 8 positional, and DH) 11 are free agents. Only Youkalis, Pedruia, and Varitek went through the minors. The Yanks however have Jason Giambi, A-Rod, Bobby Abreu, Matsui, Mussina, and Pettitte if you want to count him. Wang, Hughes, Kennedy, Jeter, Posada, Cabrera, Cano, and technically Pettitte went through the minors system.
So before you start throwing stones you should look are your very fragile glass house. The yanks do pay alot to free agents, but they also pay their own. They are paying home raise players about 80 mil of the 209 mil salary, and then there is A-rod who is making 35 mil.

Look at the gap between 1st and 2nd. there is what a 50 million gap. You cannot compare the sox salary to the Yanks.
The salary that i post ealry was incorrect. ESPN didnt update the salary and it didnt dawn on me until now. The yanks salary reaches $210,000,000 and the Sox are $134,000,000. The Yankees are first while the sox are now 4th. So if the Sox win this year, what will you say then. The Sox are the 2nd favorite to win the world Series at the start of the season. I dont have the source but it was in my local newspaper. Its something from vegas.
Anyways, The sox young talent is the 2nd best in the league. Only to Tampa(cuz they get number 1 draft picks every year). They have Ellisbury, Lester, Bucholdz, Papelbon, Pedroia, Youk, and a SS that will start for them when Lugos contract runs out. Not to mention the fact that Beckett is 26 and so is Dice-K.
The Yanks have 3 or 4 pitchers and Melky. The Sox are the Class of the | |
