That's right, spring practice is just around the corner.  The Dawgs kick off on Thursday and will hold 15 practices in all before the Spring game on Saturday, April 26.  The good news is that it looks like several of our new players, including Chris Polk, have enrolled early so they can participate.  Attendance to the practices is limited, but if you're in the Tyee Club you can buy a pass to go to them.
Obviously, keeping everyone healthy is the most important thing, but what areas are you guys going to be paying the most attention too and what players do you think might have a breakthrough spring?  Please share your thoughts.
Go Huskies!!!

I cant wait! Maybe this year we wont be subjected to our "star" RB shuffling behind the line on every play than tempting us every now and then when he busts a good run.

I think Jake Locker should be greatly improved and maybe, just maybe if he stays around for his senior season and we surrond him with more and more skill and get to a big bowl game we could see a heisman canidate again for the first time since Cody Pickett. Just a dream of mine but he flashes that top speed and his arm can only go up.

Definetly looking for an improved DEF play this year after the collapses last year seemed to tear our hearts out each game. We should continue to improve and get better.

Some more news:  former TE Johnnie Kirton is being moved to DT.  Also, RB JR Hasty and LB EJ Savannah will not participate because of academic issues, and G Ryan Tolar and S Jason Wells will miss spring ball with injuries.

There are some quiet moves that are being made...such as Kirton to DT ...this sneaky move started last year when Kirton was given a D playbook.

Also other subtle moves along the D are being made. It shows that they have been working on the D throughout the winter. That is good news.

I think that in playing a bunch of new guys on D last year is going to pay off this year. I also think that there is going to be so much competitution at so many positions that those on the depth charts are going to be major contributors. With Tolar and Wells back for fall...whew! Also UW did recruit some Atheletes who will proably be used on the D side.

I also think that these new guys are bringing energy and fury...they wanna play, competitution is going to be hard to keep in control

The O line is going to be smash-mouth beasts...L.Rankin is not going to be missed..there is some Speed coming..& with a new RBs coach..its going to be exciting!!

JL is not going to need to be put at risk nearly as much as last year...hes going to have a crew to manufacture yards and TDs this year. Word is that all of those recruited can run and catch!

I also applaud TW for sticking to his GUNS...that there is NO " I " in TEAM...J R HASTY is either going to #@$#@$# or git off the pot...there was a reason for recruiting so many RBs, so Hasty will  (with a quickness) Excel or Ride the bench until he is kicked off the team!! E.J Savannah had better git himself together..its.too late in the game to be anything other than Positive.

I also think that this coaching staff is going to gel rather easily...they are a versitile bunch of Teachers and Motivators.

Let them go at it GO DAWGS

Husky Fans, it's about that time! This is the only thing that can lift my spirits after all this Sonics junk. I'll tell you, I'm so happy that Kirton is going to the defensive side of the ball. It will help a bunch for a number of reasons. I would tell you those reasons, but I've made a deal with myself that I won't be negative until we need to be negative. I'm going to be a positive guy the rest of this off season.

Hello Dawg Fans!

U Double U- its good to see you positive as we take a slight break from defending the pride of Seattle and keeping others informed of what a snake Clay Bennett is. We uh both said some comments that werent of the kind variety to OKC but it got nasty on both sides....

Anyhow on to UW football. Cant wait for the college season to start. Your right that Kirton should have a solid impact on the Defensive side of the ball. It was such a killer to see everyteam just march up and down on the defense all season. Jake needs some help at WR as well and heres to RB that hits the hole and dosent hop back and forth when he gets there or runs lateral and gets stopped.

The Receivers are young, but so athletic. I would say that the "big play" is more likely with this group than the past groups. I'm not so worried about the RB situation because of Locker. I really think that so much attention is paid to Locker that it frees up the RB's to do their thing. In a real spread offense(last years Oregon), Locker and whoever the RB's are, could be very dangerous. I look for us to run a lot of stunts and fakes, to make the defensive bite one way just for us to take it another. That opens up the down field pass too.

U Double U,how have you been? I,m good but already stressing because spring FB is almost over and its such a long time before the season starts.

I am completely convinced that this new UW coaching staff has a wide range of skills, knowledge and COACHING TEAMWORK that makes its much easier than the past to Teach, Motivate and get the great deal that they demand from these HUSKY FB atheletes.

They are going to KNOW how to play D and lust  for it. This D is not going to be anything nice..... This kid Victor Aiyewa is simply going to be a ball jarring beast. Opposing RBs are not going to like being smashed by this bunch.

By the first game of the season(if the O and the D havent KILLED each other)we will be a TEAM...for real.

Remember that there are a few good guys who didnt play much due to injurys last year. These players plus 2-3-4? of the new Recruits will make siginificant and consistent contributions over the season.

I know that TW is not going to show all that the team can do during Sats Spring Game. He not going to show his hand or greatly risk injury.

I hope that JLs surrounding cast leaves him having to do much less than he did last year. His potential running skills will always pose a threat to opposing teams D's and if his passing skills has improved to at least 55% UW will flat out be scary.

We are going to be able to score. With the talent at RB (downfield runners)...what can you say.If JR returns for the season mentally and physically ready. What possibilities!

Have you heard or seen this new Recruit Demitrius Bronson play?

Optimistic as can be!!

GO DAWGS
