Utley may be the better hitter, but Phillips is no slouch. What seems to get lost in almost every "who's better" vote is the players defensive capeability. Most people only look at offense. Phillips is better defensively and has better range. Utley isn't bad at all, but typically is around .977-.985 fielding. Phillips (who was robbed of the gold glove last year due to a popularity contest) had 8 errors and turned more DP's than Utley or the eventual gold glove winner. Phillips is underrated. He is what, only the third second baseman to ever go 30-30 and is a gold glove caliber defender. I like Utley, but as far as an all around ballplayer, Phillips gets my vote every single time. If you want to really compare players, look at ALL aspects of their game.
