Bump any team out of UGA's OOC schedule that could put up even a LITTLE fight.

You remain funny as hell. Yeah W. Ky fits the standard of most of your schedule. You are right that Uga has played average Oklahoma State, Alabama and Georgia Tech. Now, lets look at this carefully, ok. Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech, Troy and W. Ky. W. Ky is terrible. Now how about the LAST PLACE team in the PAC 10, which led you guys at the half. The two worst teams in the MAC East and Youngstown State. You knock Okie State and Tech after the junk you played. Lets not forget Minnesota which somehow won a single game and Northwestern which figured out how to lose to DUKE.
When you have three major rivals that are BCS level schools but not in your conference you wind up playing them. From 65 to 92 we played Clemson home and away almost every year. We also played South Carolina home and away every year. And of course we played Ga. Tech home and away every year. That, coupled with the SEC schedule did not exactly leave a lot of opportunity to play another game away from Athens. And yeah, during that time both Clemson and Ga Tech won national championships.
With the advent of the 12 game schedule we play home and away with lots of folks because UGA fans demanded it. We play 10 BCS teams every year from now on. Yeah, you do play USC and other major teams. I have never blasted your ooc major teams. But you still play three games against non BCS teams. When you get your house in order, maybe we will pay attention.

One other thing before we can bury this argument.
Its pretty difficult to schedule powerhouses when you have yearly home and aways already lined up with GaTech, and the WLOCP also plays a role. Its hard to find teams like Texas and USC to agree to a home and home. Besides, the Big East and ACC are right here beside us. Why would we spend $$ to travel across the country when we can schedule someone 100-200 miles away.

Oh darn, our worst opponent for next year is a team that beat App St.

freshd,
Funny man. Georgia Southern did beat Appy State who did beat someone you can't figure out how to beat didn't they?
Lets take a closer examination of who you guys played 1-11 Florida International; 3-9 Notre Dame; 5-7 Buffalo and 4-8 Temple. Who is calling the kettle black? Compare that with Ok State 7-6, Ga Tech 7-6, Troy 8-4 and W. Ky. Of course Troy routed Fla Intl too.
But next year it does get tougher. Coastal Carolina, Oregon State (good team), Syracuse and Temple. Who do the Dawgs play....that Georgia Southern Team you mentioned, Central Michigan, the Champions of that conference the Big Ten loves to play all the time, Arizona State, PAC 10 Runner Up and Georgia Tech. In 2009 you get Eastern Michigan, Syracuse Temple and Eastern Illinois. Meanwhile we play at Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech host Arizona State and someone yet to be named.
Are you seriously interested in getting into this discussion?.

I agree I was really down on playing coastal carolina until I saw them on Clemson schedule and guess who else? GEORGIA in 2011. You are right the Big 10 loves the MAC just as much as the SEC loves the Sun Belt. Playing Syracuse(other than Pitt) is as close to playing GT for Georgia with our 69th meeting.
I personally do not knock OOC since PSU joined the ranks of everyone else playing D1-AA schools. Quite honestly UGa OOC is fine but not any better than Ohio State's. There are very few teams that can claim that they take on all commers like USC.

The question is does it matter? what did OSU play last yr? SOS outside the top 50. If that is how the voters want it, why would anyone question OOC schedule? Clearly it is about the number of losses no the degree of difficulty, despite the team w/ the lesser record winning the last 2. Until voters start saying a 2 loss team w/ a killer schedule is better than a 1 loss team what is the pt ( i mean amongst the major programs) of playing a difficult OOC schedule?

Playing Syracuse(other than Pitt) is as close to playing GT for Georgia with our 69th meeting.
Except the difference is
Georgia Tech has gone 37-27 over the past 5 years and 79-47 over the past 10 and has been above .500 every single season in that time frame.
Syracuse has gone 19-40 over the past 5 years and 57-64 over the past 10 with 4 losing seasons, 2 .500 seasons, and 4 winning seasons.
Here is something funny
Over the last 10 years,
Georgia Tech is 79-47.
If you take the record of the best BCS team Ohio State played every year over the last 10 years,
their combined record is 77-45.
