I have been hearing alot of talk about getting C.C. and Tex for next year because we will have like 75 million coming off the books. My question is who do we need more and why you want them on the Yankees.

I think having Tex would be nice the guy will be 28 next year and he would be great for the Yankees. Imagine Arod then Tex. Thats almost as good as Ortiz and Manny. Dont get me wrong I think C.C. would be awesome for the Yankees Im just scared that when he signs that Big Contract he wont care anymore and get out of shape again.

Remember you can only pick one. I know theres a good chance we get both but Cashmen wants a lower payroll so we might only get one. Who would you like?

Well, I'm greedy and want both, but if I had to choose, I'd go with CC Sabathia barring any injury to him this season. Mike Mussina is gone next year, and I strongly suspect Andy Pettitte will be too.  That leaves Chien Ming Wang, Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain and Ian Kennedy.  I think the only 5th starter who might be ready at that point is Alan Horne, but I bet they start him in the bullpen.  So, you're talking about an extremely young starting rotation which is fabulous, but would be more fabulous with a veteran anchor.  I know Chien Mien Wang will be considered a veteran, but CC Sabathia is more so.

Definitely agree with Yankeechick, both.  I believe there should be an option that goes like "If Cashman tries to go cheap and not get both if possible, he should be fired immediately."  With all of the money coming off the payroll next year if Cash doesn't make a big move, George needs to get back into and make it happen.  If only one of them could be had, I would definitely have to say Sabathia.  We are needing pitching much more than batting at this point.  Tex would be nice, but just think we have enough batting for the near future.

I picked Tex for one reason.

The contract the Yankees would have to offer for either one would be for what 6,7,8 years or so at XXX millions per year. Never mind the money but how long can C.C. keep carrying around all that weight and still be a dominant pitcher.

Tex on the other hand will probably still be producing at the end of the contract. Tex not only produces at the plate but he plays Gold Glove defense as well.

The Yankees have had enough of long contracts for pitchers who are lousy at the end of their deal and yet still on the payroll for big bucks.

Maybe the Yankees have enough internal candidates to fill the starting roster???

I would go with C.C.. Good pitching will beat good hitting.

That is what I always believed, and what I always tell my high school baseball teams.

However, yes it would be great to get both.

Hey, it isn't our money so lets get both as new ornaments for our shiny new ballpark.

C.C. would be a better option if we can only have one because a great staff can shut down the most prolific offenses. We will probably not have Andy or Moose next year and adding a Cy-Young caliber lefty to the rotation would be great. I wouldn't mind having Tex picking it at first too but for now I'll go with C.C.

Too Much Beer, you're absolutely right, if it comes down to a long contract, a position player is the way to go.  I just think it's very important to anchor that young staff with someone other than Chien Ming Wang.  Maybe he is enough though.  I think we should wait and see how everything unfolds this year.  If Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain and Ian Kennedy turn into the starters they should, who needs CC Sabathia.  Also, if it's going to take $75 million just to talk to Yu Darvish, and the Yanks want to go that way, I doubt they go after CC Sabathia.
