At the intermission of the Predators-Red Wings game, hundreds of fans were glued to the TVs in the hallways. There were so many people watching the Belmont-Duke game, you couldn't tell where the concession lines started. Many didn't return to the game until YOUR game was over, and I doubt they were all Belmont fans. It's hard to look away when you're witnessing determination and fearlessness like the Bruins showed tonight. Even the fans who stayed in their seats let out a unified cheer with 70-69 on the scoreboard, and a deflated sigh when the final came through. But still, you made a lot of Nashvillians very proud tonight.
In short, that was one of the gutsiest, grittiest performances I've ever seen (of what I saw, that is). It's little comfort coming from a Vandy/Memphis fan and certainly not meant to be a patronizing pat on the head, but Belmont should stick its chin out with confidence. You went toe-to-toe, stared down Duke and had them blinking and stuttering. Well done.
