James Montgomery's first choice may be Washington, but they are already using all their scholarships, so it may not be that easy.
More importantly, for the Bears, Montgomery was our most experience RB after Best, so it does hurt us there. As far as talent level, I believe that Slocum, Vareen, and DeBoskie are as talented as Montgomery, so I don't expect a big dropoff. Still, we've been doing a nice job of grooming RB's as backups and then having experience going into the season, and this year, unless Best is healthy, that isn't the case.
We're not "in trouble", we're just not as sure as to who is going to be "the man".
